Enugu federal workers join nationwide strike

WORKERS of Federal Government establishment and multi-national companies including financial institutions in Enugu on Thursday joined the nationwide warning strike embarked upon by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Some of the commercial banks visited in Enugu metropolis were under lock and keys while Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Enugu Station although not off-air but was operating skeletal services by Senior Staff of the corporation.

It was however observed that customers of banks were seen in long queue making frantic efforts withdrawing their money at bank premises.

Some of the Enugu residents interviewed said that Labour Leaders should agitate more for salary review which is supposed to be done every five years instead of talking of minimum wage.

The State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Virginus Nwobodo was not available for comment.
