Enugu CP orders DPOs to fish out hoodlums, seeks community support

Mr Danmallam Mohammed, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Danmallam Mohammed, has directed the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), to step up action to fish out all hoodlums in hideouts in the state.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, revealed this in a statement on Monday in Enugu.

Amaraizu said that the commissioner had directed DPOs to step-up their intelligence gathering through the assistance of community policing as well as community relations and partnership.

He said it would be a renewed onslaught on crime and criminality towards sustaining the existing tempo of its crime prevention and detection bid for a safe and secured environment in the state.

“The DPOs have orders to raid all suspected criminal hideouts or area likely to be used by hoodlums.

“The raid will be borne out of intelligence information with community policing as well as community relations and partnership,’’ he said.

He said the commissioner had re-assured that the command in partnership with sister security agencies and relevant stakeholders, would continue to do its best to ensure that “crime is prevented’’.

He said the police were ready to unmask criminals as quickly as possible, and would not rest on its oars in policing activities in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the peace of the state was troubled last Thursday, when suspected kidnappers abducted Professor Nduka Eya, a former Commissioner for Education in Old Anambra State.

The police moved swiftly on Saturday morning and smashed the kidnapping syndicate and rescued Eya in a forest along Enugu-Port Harcourt road.
