Enhancing digital technology, key to national development — Minister

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, on Thursday, said that adequate utilisation of Digital Technology aimed at improving the nation’s economy was on the front line in the Tinubu renewed hope agenda.

This was just as he added that enhancing Digital Technology is among the key factors in enhancing the nation’s economy.

Dr Tijani made this known in Kano during the National Council on Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy

“As nations strive to remain competitive in the digital era, policy makers are increasingly focusing on creating an enabling environment that encourages investment in technology, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving productivity by leveraging the manifold benefits of digital technologies across various sectors of the economy.”

He was delivering his speech, on the theme of the “11th National Council Leveraging Digital Technology and Innovation to Drive Nigeria’s Economic Growth and Development”.

He added that is apt and in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda which has at its core, a recognition of the power of technology and innovation as enablers of economic growth and development.”

According to him; “Globally, digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Block Chain have become veritable tools for fostering innovation, driving economic growth, and enhancing social prosperity”.

Dr Tijani hinted that the World Bank underscores the significant role of digital technology investment in growing the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of nations, stressing that Nigeria has been making strides in this direction.

Speaking on the occasion the state governor
Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State disclosed that his administration was according much priority to the development of Digital Technology.

He stated; “On assumption in office I make sure that the salary payment system was digitise, and this has helped immensely in blocking leakages”

This administration has revived informatics institute which was. established by the Kwankwaso’s Administration with the aim of producing qualified people”.
