This call was made during a one-day dissemination event sponsored by the South East Media Executive Round Table (SEMERT) in collaboration with Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn( PERL) with the theme”Budgeting for Regional Development across the South East States” at Bridgewaters hotel Enugu.
According to Barr. Eze onyekpere during his presentation on Budgeting for regional development, stressed that appointment to the key position must be based on knowledge track record and capacity and not just mere political patronage for accountability, transparency value for money which are the great cornerstone that drives development.
He added that forecasting of revenue, mobilisation of revenue must be based on empirical evidence as he advised the state government to commence a leading recruitment process that is based on quality.
While he admonished the Civil society organisations to also engage in their independent monitoring in checkmating challenges through Audit.
He, however, called on the South East leadership to learn to patronise their Effective local content resources that will drive south-east development that meets the quality specifications and also advised that given away land to investors should henceforth end stressing that Land should also be recognised as one of the critical ways to resources.

Meanwhile Prof. Osita Ogbu, Dr Amazon, and the coordinator SEMERT MR. Jika Attoh and Mrs I. Chukwuma urged the South East states to ensure that they take advantage of the budget development and transformation as the movement has to be agreed within the social milieu of the people considering that development.
