The Judicial Panel of Inquiry set up to look into Police Brutality and other matters, sitting in Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday said it would visit premises of individuals whose properties were destroyed during the #EndSARS protest in the state.
The Chairman of the panel, Justice Adesola Sidiq, who gave this assurance when victims of the #EndSARS protest began the presentation of how they lost their valuables, said it became necessary to visit the site of the destruction for proper recommendations.
Speaking during the hearing, a former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Ife Oyedele whose house was razed at Okitipupa told the panel that property worth N52m were lost to #EndSARS protest.
Oyedele, represented by his counsel, Omololu Bagbe, listed the affected property to include his residential apartment in Okitipupa and his political campaign offices in Okitipupa and Akure.
Further hearing of his petition was put on hold due to an amendment to the petition while his counsel was directed to submit the documents through the Secretary of the Panel.
The Ondo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also informed the panel about the destruction of the party’s Secretariat and other property in the offices.
The Secretary and Legal Adviser of the Ondo PDP, Olusola Olujimi, who represented the party, explained that the party had commenced the reconstruction of the party secretariat destroyed during the protest.
He, however, said a letter detailing all the destroyed items was sent to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu before the renovation project commenced.

The panel disclosed that a total of 17 persons including organisations have filed a petition seeking compensation for their destroyed properties.
