Normalcy has been restored in Borno State following the lifting of a 24-hour curfew imposed after violent protests resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life.
Head of the Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA), Abubakar Suleiman, told the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday that the government’s swift imposition of the curfew helped to quell the violence and restore law and order, bringing relief to residents.
According to him, his team is working tirelessly to clear roads blocked by protesters and restore the environment. “We are clearing the roads and sanitizing the area. The protesters had erected blockages to barricade movements, but our team is now working to restore order,” he said.

Mr. Suleiman praised the government’s decisive action, saying it had enabled them to clear the airport road and recover vandalized items. He expressed concern over the involvement of minors in the protests, urging parents to caution their children against destroying government property. “Destroying public property is not acceptable and can lead to persecution,” he warned.
The swift response from the authorities and the efforts of BOSEPA have been pivotal in restoring calm and ensuring that normal activities can resume in Borno State.
