‘I hold a deep and personal pride in his academic and career progression having taught him at the undergraduate level in the University of Ibadan. I eagerly await his next outing in the world of finance.’ Professor Soji Adejumo was one of the many admirers, friends and associates, who penned their glowing thoughts, filled with words of praises to the banker and former CEO of First Bank, Plc, Adesola Adeduntan, who exited his prestigious office a few days ago.
Businessman, Bowale Arisekola in his message described Adeduntan’s journey to the upper echelon of Nigerian banking as a testament to his leadership, vision and unwavering commitment to excellence while also thanking him for his robust support to Ibadan, their ‘song and city’.
Adeduntan, 54 is a member of the Bretton Woods committee and a former member of the board of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group.
He qualified as a Veterinary surgeon from the University of Ibadan and joined Afribank Plc in 1994 before he rose through dints of hard work, professionalism, and unusual intelligence to the top of his banking career when he became the Managing Director of First Bank in 2016 as the successor of ace banker, Bisi Onasanya.
His retirement spurred reactions from colleagues who also joined in the celebrations and wished him a happy life outside banking.
