Empty tanker catches fire in Lagos

An empty tanker on fire at Odo Iya Alaro Bridge inward Maryland on Friday in Lagos.

AN empty tanker, on Friday, caught fire at its top on Odo-Iya-alaro Bridge along Maryland in Lagos State.

In a telephone interview with TribuneOnline, the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Adebayo Kehinde said the tanker was not fuel-laden but caught fire due to its condition.

He pointed out that no casualty was recorded due to the incident.

Kehinde, however, said that the incident caused major gridlock around the axis, connecting Tipper garage, Ojota-Interchange and Motorways plaza.

The PRO assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the lives of the people living within that axis and even motorists are not affected.
