Emir of Karaye elevates Kwankwaso’s father to ‘kingmaker’

Published by

THE newly installed Emir of Karaye, Ibrahim Abubakar II, has elevated the status of Alhaji Musa Saleh-Kwankwaso, father of former state governor, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, to a kingmaker in the newly-created emirate by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Alhaji Musa Saleh-Kwankwaso was promoted from Majidadi to Makaman Karaye and kingmaker in the emirate.

Karaye is one of the four new emirates that were created by Governor Ganduje on May 8, 2019. The other emirates are Bichi, Rano and Gaya emirates.

It would be recalled that the creation of the four new Emirate councils has caused disaffection between some loyalists of the incumbent governor and former state governor.

A statement made available by Haruna Gunduwawa, the spokesperson of Karaye emirate council, on Wednesday, stated that the elevation of the title was in view of Alhaji Kwankwaso’s “quality and tireless commitment to the sustainable development of the emirate.”

However, the father of former governor, aged 97, Musa Saleh-Kwankwaso was first turbaned as the Majidadin Kano and district head of Madobi by late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, in 2000.

Based on this promotion, Musa Saleh-Kwankwaso who is the district head of Madobi is now one of few privileged people in the traditional hierarchy that can select a successor to the Emir in Karaye.

However, while congratulating the new Makama and kingmaker of Karaye Emirate, the Emir Abubakar II enjoined him to live up expectations.

The statement noted that the date of the formal installation of Mr Kwankwaso as a kingmaker would be announced soon.
