THE Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, last weekend, inaugurated a health facility, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Clinic, in Dotsa community in Kano, Kano State, constructed by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria.
At the ceremony, Emir Ado Bayero praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim community for building another facility in Kano and noted the organisation’s humanitarian services in communities across the state.
The traditional ruler called on members of the benefitting communities to make judicious use of the facility and maintain it.
He called on the Kano State government to continue to partner the organisation in the provision of robust health to the people of the state.
He said: “We appreciate the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for their tremendous efforts and contributions to the health sector in Kano State.
“We call on the Kano State government to continue to support the Ahmadiyya group in their efforts towards assisting the health sector.
“We also call on the beneficiary-community to make good use of the facility and ensure that they protect and manage it properly.”
Earlier, the Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Nigeria, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Alatoye, expressed gratitude to the Kano Emirate for creating an enabling environment for the organisation to provide various interventions in the health sector over the years.
Alatoye described Islam as a religion of peace which has nothing to do with violence.
The Ahmadiyya leader quoted the Qur’an as saying of Prophet Muhammad: “We have not sent you except as a mercy unto mankind,” noting that: “This mercy includes projects that will better humanity in terms of security, health and education. Ahmadiyya focuses on these.”
Recalling that the organisation’s global leader recently addressed the British Parliament and the American Congress on the prevalence of violence in the world, Alatoye said: “We call for ceasefire in the Gaza where hospitals are being bombed. We condemn violence in whatever form. We also call for an end to banditry and kidnapping in this country.”
He said the ideals of the organisation are the promotion of peace through the provision of security, healthcare and education.
He then called on all Nigerians to embrace peace and shun all forms of violence.
“We must deny these groups the undue publicity they crave,” the minister said.
