Emir of Kaiama sues for peace

Published by

The  Emir of Kaiama  in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Muazu Omar, has enjoined his people to live in peace with one another.

The emir made the call in his palace  during the annual Kazia Festival.

Alhaji Omar also called on farmers in his domain, to prioritise planting of food crops like grains instead of soya beans.

He said the cultivation of grains such as guinea corn, maize and millet would minimize starvation and food insecurity.

He noted that with the present economic recession, farmers must be encouraged.

In his own remarks, the Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, Alhaji Alhassan Bagudu, urged the people to show commitment in their various undertakings.

He acknowledged that government at all levels were aware of the present economic hardship, adding that with a little more patience, things would get better.

He, however, thanked the emir and security agencies for the relative peace enjoyed by the people of the community.

Highlights of the occasion were the turbaning of some village heads and title holders as well as the voluntary confessions of some repentant criminals among the Fulani in the town.
