Muhammad, who is a nursery two pupil in Zaria, Kaduna State, had in 2016, at the age of three, memorised the complete Qur’an which qualified him to participate in an international competition in Saudi Arabia where he came second.
He is now five years old.
Presenting the award to the boy at his palace in Zaria recently, the Emir, who spoke through one of his chiefs, Alhaji Shehu Garba, told Shamsudeen’s family and well-wishers that his palace would continue to recognise and reward excellence.
The octogenarian traditional leader commended the boy’s parents and school for helping him to not only memorise the Qur’an in less than two years but also to go ahead to represent Nigeria in an international competition.

“The Zazzau Emirate thanks Almighty Allah that has blessed us with this amazing boy. The boy and his school have done well and that is why we are honouring them today in the palace.
“This emirate will continue to recognise and appreciate excellence at all levels and across age grades. We are proud of this boy who has represented us well at local, national and international levels.
“We commend his mother who has been there for him since he lost his father at just six months of age. We equally thank Professors International Group of Schools, here in Zaria, especially the management and teachers of Shamsudeen for the good work they are doing,” he said.
