Embrace power of God, avoid spiritual waywardness —Cleric

Published by

A cleric, Sheikh Abdul-Jelil Owonikoko, has lamented the spiritual weakness and moral decadence in the society as well as people’s ignorance of the power and efficacy of the Qur’an to solve all problems.

Owonikoko, who is the founder of Moshad L-asrar Almujaba, made this assertion while speaking with journalists on the state of the nation and the state of Islam in Nigeria today, in Osogbo, Osun State.

According to him, due to the problems in the country, many people, including Muslims, were consulting dubious spiritualists for solutions instead of relying on Allah and believing in the healing powers of the Qur’an.

Making reference to a verse of the Qur’an, Sheikh Owonikoko described the holy book as a source of “healing and mercy to those who believe” and decried the attitude of many who feel the word of God is not enough solution to their problems.

“Many people think early Muslims had gone with the secrets of healing in the Qur’an but they are making a mistake. The Qur’an is as potent as it was during the time of the early Muslims.

“You see many Muslims today who still patronise traditional magic healers because they lack knowledge of where to look in the Qur’an for solutions to their problems,” he said.

Owonikoko said further that such a practice of spiritual waywardness was not pleasant in the sight of God and the way out was to enlighten Muslims on how they could use the Qur’an to address all their challenges without attributing partnership with God.

He urged Muslims to embrace the oneness of God and desist from looking for powers elsewhere as such a rethink would not only benefit the repentant but the entire nation as believers would be able to speak with one voice and call Allah to have mercy on Nigeria.
