Embrace peace, Oyo ADC tells gov aspirants

CHAIRMAN, African Democratic Congress (ADC) Oyo State chapter, Dr Ahmed Ayinla, has enjoined all aggrieved aspirants and members of the party to shelve their sword and embrace peace.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ayinla decried utterances and statements of its aspirants in the media was tantamount to destroying the party.

An act, he said, does no one any good, Ayinla argued that the party abided by its stipulated rules to arrive at Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as its governorship candidate.

Noting that the party was not oblivious of some grievances, Ayinla said the party remained committed to a genuine reconciliation to ensure the party forges a committed front in the 2019 election.

“For the umpteenth time, let me reiterate that the party is committed to genuine reconciliation as only a united party can be formidable to win the 2019 general elections.

“We all Laboured to build this party to get to this status and we all hold it a duty not to do anything to undermine the party.

“As a party, we would not hesitate to wedge a big stick to maintain party discipline as no amount of intimidation or pull Down syndrome would prevent ADC from winning 2019 elections. The party abided by its constitution in arriving at its choice of candidate amongst other eminently qualified aspirants.

“The party Gubernatorial candidate remains Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, while the party followed the dictates of our laws in arriving at candidates for other elective offices,” Ayinla said.
