Embrace Eid-el-Kabir values, Agbeyangi tells Nigerians

Published by

The acting General Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Kayode Agbeyangi, has urged Nigerians, especially Muslim faithful, to embrace the values of sacrifice, love, and compassion that the festival of Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya festival) embodies.

In his goodwill message to members, Agbeyangi encouraged drivers to imbibe the acts of love, sacrifice, and discipline taught by the festival.

He advised drivers, particularly those plying interstate routes, to always show compassion and love to other road users and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any trip.

Agbeyangi also cautioned drivers to  be disciplined by always  ensuring that their vehicle papers are up-to-date to avoid confrontations with law enforcement agencies like FRSC and the police.

Additionally, he advised drivers to avoid night travels, citing the inherent dangers. “There will be plenty of passengers, but try to avoid the temptation of night travels. Set out on your journey on time to avoid being stranded in the night,” he urged.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, 2024, as public holidays to mark the Eid Kabir festival.
