Published by

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has called on human resources professionals and employees to embrace the use of artificial intelligence to ensure efficiency in the workplace.

The institute urged the personnel to deploy the technological tools towards adding value to their respective organisations in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives.

These were part of the resolutions of the 9th Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Ondo State Branch held in Akure, the state capital, attended by top permanent secretaries and accounting officers in the state.

The resolution was signed by the Vice Chairman, CIPM Ondo State Branch, Pamela Elekwachi and the Public Relations Officer, Akintan Akinyemi.

The conference was attended by the state governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Adelami Olayide; the Head of Service, Bayo Phillips; and officials from the CIPM Headquarters, including Mrs Ogochukwu Egbuonu, MIPM National Treasurer, representing the National President, Mallam Ahmed Labir Godan, FCIPM.

The statement reads, “The conference provided valuable insights into AI’s role in the workplace while emphasising the need for HR professionals to embrace this technology responsibly, maintaining a focus on employee well-being and professional growth.

“Integrate AI as a Strategic Asset: Organisations should view AI as essential to their strategic plans, focussing on operational efficiency and innovation.

“Identify pain points where AI can deliver immediate benefits, such as recruitment and task automation, and introduce it gradually.

“Ensure responsible AI use by establishing strong governance frameworks that address ethical concerns and align AI deployment with organisational values.

“Provide comprehensive training that equips employees to leverage AI in their roles and focus on higher-value tasks while preparing them for future changes.

“Implement programmes that prioritise mental, physical, and emotional well-being, ensuring a healthy workforce to maximise productivity.

“Strengthen leadership training initiatives to create a resilient, diverse, and adaptable workforce.

“Establish mentorship opportunities that enhance communication skills and develop key competencies in HR professionals.

“Adopt policies that balance productivity with employee well-being and maintain regular health check-ups and mental health support.”
