It will be recalled that three years ago, Mr Elumelu launched a $100 million programme to identify, train, mentor and empower 10,000 African entrepreneurs over 10 years. This forum is the culmination of that programme.
As with two previous editions, the forum will “feature interactive learning sessions between the African entrepreneurs on one hand and thought leaders, investors and veteran entrepreneurs on the other,” the foundation said in a written statement on its website.
This 2017 forum, “a gathering of the entire African entrepreneurship ecosystem” will present 54 African countries represented by their entrepreneurs, business leaders, “established entrepreneurs and policymakers to forge partnerships, share insights and fashion Africa-made solutions to accelerate the transformation of Africa.”
On the forum’s agenda for the two-day events are:
Seed to Scale: Sourcing finance, “Are you investor ready?” the good, he bad and the tax; building your brand; personal branding; Potential to profit: Growing your idea into business; Capital: The role of financing in Africa’s future; Maxing your potential and Empowering African entrepreneurs, road to 2024.
Although there isn’t a clear picture on who the speakers on these topics are, but Entrepreneurship+ can report that the Founder of the Chocolate City Group, Audu Maikori, Nigerian lawyer, entrepreneur and social activist will be speaking at the event. His message topic is not known at press time.
Mark Essien, Founder and CEO of Nigeria-based Hotels.ng, is also booked to speak at the event, along with Folorunsho Alakija, executive vice-chairman of Famfa Oil Limited the first female Chancellor of Osun State University and Oluwatoyin Sanni, Group CEO at United Capital, owned by United Bank for Africa (UBA).
