Elegance redefined: Maklinscout creativity in Fashion styling

Starting a fashion brand can be inspired by variety and wide range of factors, but the passion for creativity through storytelling with styling and drawing inspiration from ancient African story is of utmost importance.

The founder and creative director of Styled by Maklinscout, Makiliko Nelson A, who said he started his brand in the early 2019 when he was still in the higher institution, noted that, “The inspiration behind starting our fashion styling brand spruced from a desire to blend creativity, innovative, and personal style to empower individuals to express themselves authentically through mind blowing and statements costumes. We aim to utilise our fashion brand as a platform to not only showcase style and elegance but also to promote African culture in a more diversified way.”

He further stated that “My Passion is driven by my desire to make a positive impact in the fashion industry, like promoting sustainability or inclusivity. I believe I inspire and empower people with my creativity. My style is different reason why I’m know to be a FASHION STYLIST WITH A DIFFERENCE”

He highlighted the impact of his brand in nation building where he said “I have been able to contribute to the economy by creating jobs and driving innovation to over 700 vibrant youths through personal style, and fashion has the potential to shape and influence society in meaningful ways.”

“I’ll define my signature as extraordinarily unique and African inspired style that signifies royalty, wealth and beautification. Doing this signature style involves understanding my client’s preferences, staying updated with fashion trends, and infusing my own artistic flair to create a cohesive and recognizable look. It’s about creating a consistent and distinct brand identity that clients can recognize and trust. I always call myself stylist with a difference because amongst the top stylist in Africa I can be easily differentiated from others.

Highlighting his achievements in the fashion world, he said, “My brand got featured on the biggest reality tv show, BBN All stars of recent through one of my clients, Mercy Eke, and all I can say is that what is worth doing is worth doing well. When clients reach out to me to create a timeless look for them, I always see the opportunity as one to let my creativity known to the world and I believe it’s a stepping stone to greater projects.”
