Governor Yari, who was speaking during an APC campaign rally at Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the state, said it was a costly mistake for INEC to have excluded Zamfara APC candidates from contesting the forthcoming general election in the state.
According to him recent court judgment has made it clear that there were primary elections in Zamfara State and that candidates were presented to the INEC, but yet the lists were not released for reasons best known to it.
The governor reminded INEC national chairman, Professor Mahmud Yakubu of his responsibility of accepting lists of candidates from parties, which he said APC had since sent to INEC but up till today, no name of APC candidates was shortlisted.
“We would not accept any election to hold in the state without APC candidates,” he said.
He explained that Zamfara State was a stronghold of APC and besides, “all our actions were based on court order; we are advising INEC to obey the order and come out with the list of APC candidates in the state”.
The governor appealed to the supporters of APC in the state to always remain resolute and support the party’s candidates in all elections.
