Lagos State is taking the lead in the number of the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) collected by registered voters in Nigeria, according to the figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday.
Earlier, INEC had released the total number of Nigerian registered voters to be 84,004,084, out of which it said 72,775,585 of them collected their PVCs.
But out of the 72,775,585, collected, Lagos voters collected 5,531,389 PVCs from the 6,570,291 registered voters in the state,
Lagos State is followed by Kano, with 4,696,747 PVCs collected from the 5,457,747 registered voters.
However, INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, who announced the figure during a press briefing in Abuja, on Thursday, said 11, 228,582 PVCs are yet to be collected, and consequently, their owners will not be able to vote on Saturday, as the card is a condition for would-be-voters.
Also showed Ekiti and Bayelsa are the states with the least number of PVCs.
In Ekiti 666,591 of 909,967 registered voters collected their PVCs, while in Bayelsa 769,509 of the 923,182 registered voters collected the PVCs.
INEC Chairman, Prof Yakubu in his brief, also said, 72,775,502 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) representing 86.63 of registered voters have been collected nationwide.
