Elections: Cleric holds prayers for Nigeria, warns hate speech could mar elections

Pastor-in-Charge of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Grcae of Mercy Prayer Mountain, Prophet Sam Olu Alo has warned that hate speech could mar the comings elections and warned Nigerians and politicians to do away with hateful, inflammatory speeches as the elections approach.

Prophet Olu Alo, who is also the convener of CAC Adamimogo Outreach, said using abusive words during campaigns may cause disaffection among Nigerians and send wrong signals to the people.

The cleric said the church, in conjunction with Adamimogo outreach, would hold the 2019 edition of its prayer crusade with the theme: Night of Vengeance with Mercy.

Among others, he stated that special prayers would be offered for Nigeria ahead of the election, starting from Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Lagos and Abuja (FCT).

The special crusade had kicked off in Akure, the Ondo State capital in January, while the Lagos programme held on Saturday at Oluwalogbon building at Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja, Lagos.

He urged Nigerians coming to the Akure crusade to seek the mind of God concerning the impending election, saying the country would get over its numerous challenges by God’s mercy.

He said: “As 2019 political activities gather momentum, we appeal to politicians seeking elective offices to eschew hatred and bitterness, and promote courses that will promote peace, love and unity among Nigerians.

“We would have a successful election in 2019. But our political leaders and we the led must love one another, conduct ourselves in peaceful manners and do away with those things that cause division among us.
