THE Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ekiti State Chapter, on Thursday, also joined the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in adopting President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Saturday Presidential election.
A statement issued and signed by the Director, Media and Publicity of the party, Honourable Yemi Akinbode said: “this is in line with the decision of the SDP NEC. We call on our members, followers and faithful to come out enmass to vote for President Buhari, on Saturday
“We also use the opportunity to pass a vote of confidence in NWC under the leadership of its acting National Chairman, Professor Tunde Adeniran and the National Secretary, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, respectively.” The statement added.

It would be recalled that the party through its NEC gave reasons why it adopted President Buhari as their preferred Presidential candidate in this year’s presidential election with the embattled former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana and former Cross River State Governor, Mr Donald Duke, who were battling for the presidential candidacy of the party in the court of law.
The statement said it was in view of all this that the NWC of the SDP resolved to adopt President Mohammadu Buhari and Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Osibanjo of APC as candidates of the party for the 2019 Presidential election.
It, therefore, directed all the members to vote for President Buhari on Saturday, February 16 election.
According to the statement: “the party expressed happiness that the party’s candidates for various offices namely the State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, the Senate and Gubernatorial offices are campaigning vigorously nationwide and their presence and impacts are being felt everywhere.
“NEC calls on all our candidates throughout the country not to relent but must work even harder as we approach the finishing line. NEC also promised to support our candidates in every way possible to ensure their decisive victory at the polls.” It stated.
