Elect candidates based on competence, integrity ―Ogun governorship aspirant

A governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Ademola Ogunbanjo, has advised electorate to vote for competent and candidates with integrity in the forthcoming election in 2019.

He noted that money-bag politicians when voted to power, have failed in their electoral promises to the people because they have nothing to offer.

Ogunbanjo stated this while addressing men of the pen profession at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, on Friday, of his intention to vie for the governorship position and formal declaration next Tuesday, at the party secretariat of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN).

He said the time is now for good governance and growth in development, and that this could be achieved if the electorate in the state could look beyond money politics and elect anyone with good track records.

“The time has come for Nigerian political environment to experience leaders who look beyond winning at all cost and by all means, and embrace those who see this nation’s soul has been wounded for far too long, and recognise her need for healing and unifying for the sake of the collective.

“For a nation, we have never been more fractured than we are today, never more divided, never more desperate for love.

The kind of love that makes political leaders care for their people and not rack up billions in personal bank accounts at the expense of the people they were elected to serve.

“So, I want to call on our people that in 2019, they should not be deceived into voting for incompetent individuals who hide under party but be painstaking in voting for candidates capable of bringing good governance to their doorsteps.

I believe that the time has come for a political choice based on value propositions and not doled out stipends that continue to enslave the future of our children and place a limit on our moral justification to demand good governance,” he added.
