El-zakzaky’s health deteriorating, needs treatment abroad ― Shi’ites

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria IMN otherwise called Shi’ites have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order the release of Sheikh Ibraheem El Zakzaky and his wife for proper medical attention abroad.

In a statement issued by Abdullahi Musa on behalf of the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement, Nigeria, it noted that El-zakzaky’s health is deteriorating and needs urgent treatment abroad.

In a recent picture circulated by IMN, it shows that one of the eyes of the IMN leader is still in bad condition.

According to the statement, “the news of the deteriorating health conditions of the Sheikh and his wife has been recently widely reported by social and mainstream media both locally and internationally.

“And the preliminary reports given by the foreign doctors suggest the need for intensive medical attention in a more well-equipped hospital abroad to treat the health issues of the couple.

“After almost four years of denying the Sheikh and his wife proper medical attention of their own choice, Buhari finally obeyed a court order; the first time in the history of his bloody and catastrophic tenure of office.

“Even that, is not without any hitch! On the 25 April 2019, a delegation of expert doctors and consultants led by the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) gained access to Sheikh Zakzaky (H) and his wife, and conducted initial medical investigations on both the Sheikh and his wife.”

The statement further noted “the investigations revealed that the couple needs urgent treatment that could only be obtained outside Nigeria. Thus, we are demanding the unconditional release of the couple to enable them to take care of their health.

“It is quite inhuman that the Sheikh and his wife are still under detention without proper medical care despite a Federal High Court judgement delivered in December 2016 by Justice Gabriel Kolawale that ordered for the immediate and unconditional release of the couple.”
