EKSU Killings: Alumni commends Fayose on moves to stop cultism in schools

THE Alumni association of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, has commended the steps taken by the state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, to curb the cultism and cultist activities in the institution.

This was contained in a Press statement signed by the National President of the association, Mr Oludotun Adetunberu, and made available to newsmen in Akure, Ondo state capital.

Adetunberu commended Fayose for his prompt intervention to stem down the senseless killings in the school and for sponsoring the anti-cultism bill at the state House of Assembly.

According to him, this action would go a long way to make cultist activities in institutions across the state and the state illegal.

He called on the lawmakers at the state House of Assembly to ensure speedy passage of the bill into law so as to nip in the bud the unholy activities of the cultist in the University and in the state general.

He noted that “the anti-grazing bill sent to the Assembly by the Governor and the speedy passage of same to law has curbed the menace of the herdsmen in Ekiti state, if that can do the magic to the nefarious activities of the herdsmen, then we believe the bill will put a stop to the cultist activities in Ekiti state”

The National President of the institution alumni described Fayose as a leader of all season and enjoin other state governors to emulate his prompt and pragmatic approach to issues that affects the welfare of their people.

The association also commend the management of the institution, under the leadership of Prof Oye Bamidele for their prompt and proactive roles since the ugly incident reared its head in the University.

Fayose, had last week, ordered the security operatives in the state to fish out those involved in the killing of two students of the school, with a promise to eradicate cultism in the school.
