The Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Alumni, Ekiti State chapter, has urged the new Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Babatola Ayodele, to prioritize transforming the university.

During a courtesy visit, the Chairman of EKSU Alumni, Mr. Adetunji Aribasoye, congratulated Prof. Ayodele on his appointment as the 9th substantive EKSU Vice-chancellor and emphasized the challenging task ahead of him.

Aribasoye encouraged the Vice Chancellor to make tough decisions to revamp the institution and address issues such as the restructuring of postgraduate studies, prolonged student program durations, and enhancing the university’s global visibility to attract more students and increase revenue.

The Alumni Chapter also proposed the implementation of a whistleblower policy to provide students with a platform to report issues without fear of victimization, and requested approval for the chapter to utilize university-owned lands for farming to generate revenue.

Additionally, they sought approval for the construction of a chapter secretariat, meeting hall, and car wash to boost revenue, as well as the registration of prominent members of the university management and other notable alumni to the chapter’s cooperative society.

In response, the Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude for the support and encouragement from the Alumni and assured them of his commitment to addressing their proposed programs. He also highlighted the resolution of postgraduate issues and improvements in transcript processing times. Finally, he approved all the proposed programs outlined by the Alumni Chapter Chairman, Mr. Aribasoye.
