The Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, in Ido-Osi local government area of Ekiti state, Oba Ayorinde Ilori-Faboro, has advocated the need for the constitution to spell out roles for traditional rulers across the country in a bid to
Oba Ilori-Faboro noted that traditional institutions should be considered by the national assembly in the ongoing constitutional amendment towards addressing the mirage of challenges confronting the country especially security.
The traditional ruler pointed out that Oba’s bears the burden in their respective communities especially in ensuring maximum security of lives and property, calling for financial provision in the state’s budget for them to adress the heinous crimes across the communities.
He spoke while addressing newsmen in his palace ahead of the Ajodun Ido Oganganmodu 2021″, where he called on all sons and daughters of the community to come home and contribute to the development of the ancient town.
The traditional said, ” We need constitutional power because we are doing a lot in our domains in the area of security and the rest. It is the palace that runs the town because if anything happens, it is the palace that people run to. In view of this, we should be adequately captured in the constitution.”
On the poor condition of internal roads in Ido-Ekiti, the traditional said, ” Our roads especially internal roads are terribly bad that people can’t get to their homes due to serious erosion everywhere, I am appealing to Governor Kayode Fayemi to help us in this regard.”
Explaining the activities for the week- long Ido-Faboro day, the chairman planning committee, Mr. Abiodun Abe and the National President, Ido Progressive Association Dr. Sola Ogunsina, said the activities leading to the grand finale on November 27 would be used to showcase, ” our rich cultural heritage and celebrate our sons and daughters across the globe.”
