The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Mr. Gboyega Oguntuase, has been received by the Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti and the paramount ruler of the Egbeoba kingdom, Oba Ajibade Adewumi Fasiku, in his palace in Ikole-Ekiti.
He was also hosted by the leaders and members of the party in the council area, during his first official visit to his native Ikole-Ekiti.
At the reception, which was attended by leaders of the party in the 12 wards that make up Ikole Local Government, Oguntuase warned PDP members that disloyalty would attract sanctions.
During the reception held at the premises of Ikole Local Government secretariat of PDP, he also received defectors from the Labour Party, led by a former organising secretary of the party in the local government, Chief Oladele Afolayan, who said LP was rudderless in the state.
Oguntuase, who thanked the leaders and people of his native council area, cautioned against any act of sabotage.
He said: “Ikole is not a party to any form of sabotage, because we are aware that in any big movement like the PDP, there could be saboteurs.
“We are assuring the leader of our party that there are not saboteurs in Ikole and if anyone shows any act meant to sabotage the party. We dissociate from such a person. He does not represent us, he is not speaking for us and he is not standing in for us.
“I am speaking for Ikole Local Government because that’s my local government. However, as the chairman of the party in Ekiti State, may I also announce that we shall not condone sabotage across the state. We are working to ensure that no saboteur will be accommodated in any part of the 16 local government areas of the state.”
Earlier, chairman of PDP in Ikole LGA, Alhaji Azeez Yusuf, noted that Ikole was “occupying the number one seat in PDP in the state today because of the love, generosity and trust of Governor Ayodele Fayose for Ikole people in the scheme of things.”
He described Oguntuase as “an astute politician who had done us proud by steering the ship of the party with uncommon honesty and uprightness.”
Receiving Oguntuase in his palace, Oba Fasiku, noted that it was the first time an Ikole son would occupy the position, just as he noted that the chairman of Ikole LGA, Mr Adeyeye Adeyanju, was also the first Ikole son to be elected into the office.
He thanked Governor Ayodele Fayose for the trust and support given to Ikole
