Ekiti lawmakers, youths launch mass movement for Fayose

Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, chairmen of local government, political appointees and youths have begun a mass movement to support the political agenda and continue the legacy of Governor Ayo Fayose beyond 2018 when he would be leaving office.

The movement the conveners described as one “aimed at propagating and sustaining the legacy of Governor Ayò Fayose beyond 2018”, was inaugurated by the governor at a ceremony in Ikere-Ekiti in the South Senatorial district of the state.

Speaking on the group, called Oshoko Mass Movement (OMM), its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Akinleye Adedayo Maxima, said it had Mr Wale Ayeni as the state coordinator and “it is all about sustaining the Ayo Fayose legacy beyond 2018 and particularly to tell the whole world and in particular, Ekiti people, that wherever Fayose is going in 2018, we are going with him.”

Maxima said they were out to take the movement to all the units, wards and local governments in the state that “whoever Ayo Fayose and our people pick in 2018 for the governorship race, we will support.”

According to him, “strategies have been put in place to not only rally mass support for the governor but also to ensure that the votes of all supporters count in 2018 governorship poll in the state,” adding that “to ensure this, coordinators at the local, grassroots level and state level have been appointed.”

Speaking on the court matters involving the party leadership of their party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, he claimed that it would not affect our chances of winning the governorship election of 2018 “because many of us who are part of this movement are lovers of Fayose and we cut across political parties in the state.”

He said the philosophy was that they loved Fayose and want a continuation of his legacy in the state, and added that “that is why wherever Fayose goes, we are following him, if Fayose leaves PDP today, we will follow him. But this should not be mistaken as an exit plan for Fayose but we are telling the whole world that wherever Fayose goes anytime from now we will follow him en-mass.”
