Ekiti State government has procured multi-million land administration software, including mapping and land survey equipment, to actualise the land management reform in the state.
Receiving the equipment in Ado Ekiti, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Survey and eGIS, Professor James Olaleye, said the equipment would be deployed to help the state in its land administration and survey.
He said the project, when completed, would produce visual renditions of all lands, which will aid land administration in the state.
According to him, “The government, led by His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, is determined to reform all aspects of land management in the state in order to promote ease of doing business in Ekiti State.
“These top-of-the-line equipment will facilitate the rapid production of the needed land information and the digital cadastre of Ekiti State to improve land search, simplify the allocation process, and resolve all land acquisition problems by using modern methods of land title management.
“With this equipment and the accompanying software, it is possible to have the entire picture of the state in which every part will be seen clearly as background evidence in land transactions. The mapping will provide basic eyewitness information for various land uses and land covers and define limits of land units, factors that are essential in land management.”
The Special Adviser emphasised the critical role of visual mapping, stating that it not only enhances land accessibility but also serves as a foundation for driving social, economic, and infrastructural developments by enabling more precise planning, resource optimisation, and sustainable growth strategies.
Olaleye disclosed that, “Aside from this equipment already procured, this project requires specialised aircraft for aerial mapping and Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) capture aerial survey of all parts of the state in order to ensure that all lands in Ekiti are surveyed and captured for mapping to the level of pin-point accuracy in line with global best practices.”
He solicited the support of the people for the present administration as the government was working round the clock to make land management work for the overall benefit of Ekiti State.
