Ekiti: Fabiyi raises alarm over hoodlums’ attack on residence

Oluwasayo Fabiyi, a former aspirant for the House of Representatives in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has alleged that some political thugs suspected to be loyal to Olaojo Temitope Vincent attacked his residence, leading to the killing of one domestic staff member.

Fabiyi also accused the former House of Assembly aspirant, Olaojo Vincent, of masterminding the attack on his residence by thugs in the Elewuro area of the state.

This was made known on Thursday, April 13, 2023, by Hon. Fabiyi via a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti.

Fabiyi was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the All Progressives Congress weeks before the 2023 general election in the state.

While accusing Olaojo Vincent of deliberately working against his interest in becoming the party’s flag bearer in the 2023 National Assembly election by supporting another aspirant, Fabiyi stated that Vincent, with the help of his political lieutenant, Ige Adebayo, engaged the service of thugs to harass and intimidate his followers.

Fabiyi said some political thugs stormed Elewuro’s residence and sprayed bullets directly at the house. He said a domestic staff member known as Roseline was killed during the attack.

‘A squad assembled by Scorpion, a political thug on behalf of Ige Adebayo, a political lieutenant to run-away politician Olaojo Temitope Vincent, killed a domestic staff member while attacking my Elewuro’s residence around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday evening, April 12, 2023’.

According to Fabiyi, the attack lasted for more than 45 minutes.

These thugs broke down my gate to gain access to the compound. They sprayed bullets at my house, destroyed my entrance door, and damaged other properties worth millions.

Describing Olaojo Temitope Vincent as a coward politician who traveled out of the country after he could not clinch the ticket of the ruling party for the House of Assembly, Fabiyi said Vincent has turned himself into an errand boy, issuing directives from abroad to his political boys to harass others.

‘‘I understand the powerplay. Vincent wanted Ige to become the flagbearer of the party in the assembly election. He is aggrieved that their plans did not work out. I am not responsible for his double loss. The party rejected him. When I did not get the party’s ticket too, I calmed down. I did not cause trouble.”

Reacting to the development, Ige Adebayo described the allegation as untrue, false, and misleading.

“I extend my condolences to Hon. Fabiyi over his loss, especially the demise of his domestic staff. I ask God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. It was surprising when I heard about the allegations of Hon. Fabiyi, who claimed that I and my leader were responsible for the sad incident.

“This is the 21st century. We are young politicians who’re interested in development. We frown at any act of violence, whether physical or verbal, because we cannot build a better society like that. As Hon. Fabiyi does not deserve to be hurt for aspiring for public office, myself and my leader, Hon. Olaojo, do not deserve to be blackmailed over our choice.”

“I also call on security agencies to investigate the matter properly and arrest perpetrators of such acts.

“Let me use this opportunity to state clearly that we do not know anything about the incident, and I will be available to assist the police in their findings,” he added.
