Ekiti CP resumes, pledges to review security architecture

The new commissioner for police in Ekiti, Adeniran Akinwale has assured the people of the state that the command under his leadership would review the security architecture for optimum performance.

Akinwale, who spoke with newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Wednesday upon his assumption, explained that he would lead the command in a bid to flush out criminal elements from the state and guarantee peace.

The CP noted that the recent killings of two traditional rulers and the abduction of school pupils were setbacks to the police, promising that all efforts would be initiated towards arresting the perpetrators of the attacks.

He called on the people of the state to offer more support to the security agencies by providing timely and accurate information on suspicious individuals and activities in their communities.

On the proliferation of arms and ammunition in society, CP Akinwale warned those with such weapons to submit to the police, saying the command would soon clamp down on them.

According to him, “It is a call to serve in Ekiti as the commissioner of police. Even though the country, the state, and the country are facing security challenges, the police are not resting in a bid to defeat the enemy of the state.

“ I am aware of what is happening in Ekiti state because I have been properly briefed, but I want to assure the government and people of the state that we shall return the state to a peaceful manner.

“I will bring to bear the knowledge I have gotten over the years. The security architecture will be reviewed when necessary, community-based policing will be adopted and also technology will be embraced to tackle the activities of the marauders.”

On the demands by the family of the killed driver of the kidnapped school pupils and teachers in Emure-Ekiti for his corpse, the CP assured the family that the command would soon recover the corpse from the kidnappers’ den.
