Ekiti Commissioner, Adedayo, elected chairman of Nigerian Youth Commissioners’ Forum

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Gold Adesola Adedayo, has been elected Chairman of the Nigerian Youth Commissioners’ Forum (NYCF).

Adedayo, who was appointed by Governor Biodun Oyebanji on 8 August 2023, was elected during the NYCF’s election held in Lagos on Saturday.

Shortly after his election, the Commissioner and other elected officials visited the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, and the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, where they pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders to bring about the much-needed development for Nigerian youth.

The NYCF is the umbrella body for all Commissioners for Youth and Sports Development in Nigeria, representing all 36 states of the federation.

A statement by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the Forum, and Commissioner for Youth in Jigawa State, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmed, listed other elected officials as Deputy Chairman, Hon. Adamu Inuwa Ibrahim (Gombe State), and Secretary, Hon. Alfred Kemepado (Bayelsa State).

Others include Treasurer, Hon. Tasiu Musa Shinkafi (Zamfara State), Organising Secretary, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe (Kogi State), and Publicity Secretary, Hon. Emeka Mandela (Imo State).

Commissioners elected at the regional level are: Chairman of the Northern Central Commissioners Forum, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms (Plateau State); Chairman of the South East Commissioners Forum, Hon. Richards Idike (Ebonyi State); Chairman of the South West Commissioners Forum, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende (Lagos State); and Chairman of the South-South Commissioners Forum, Hon. Barr. Ijom Ukam (Cross River State).

The list of elected officials also includes the chairman of the North East Commissioners Forum, Hon. Comrade Saina Buba (Borno State), and the Chairman of the North West Commissioners Forum, Hon. Mustapha Mohammed (Sokoto State).

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Gold Adesola Adedayo, promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear as a key figure in youth development and a proponent of the youth-centric policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Adedayo stated that he would foster harmonious working relationships with all relevant and critical stakeholders across all levels of government and the private sector to ensure that the youth population receives the attention and incentives necessary to make them relevant in the 21st-century economy, politics, and governance of the country.
