Ekiti CJ hospitalised as office collapses

The tragedy was averted on Wednesday evening in Ekiti State when the office of the Chief Justice of the state, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, collapsed.

Justice Adeyeye managed to escape death but sustained serious injuries and was promptly rushed to a tertiary hospital in the state capital for treatment.

According to reports, the incident occurred towards the end of the workday when the Chief Justice was still in his chamber preparing to close for the day.

It took significant efforts from office workers to rescue the judge from the rubble.

A video obtained by our correspondent, lasting twenty-four seconds, showed that all the steel equipment used for the suspended ceiling and a section of the wall had completely collapsed in the office.

As of now, the cause of the incident has not been revealed, but sources suggest that it may be due to structural deficiencies in the building located on the State High Court premises.

Despite attempts to obtain information, the Registrar of the Judiciary and the spokesman of the Chief Justice failed to respond to inquiries made by journalists regarding the incident.
