Ekiti 2026: Coalition endorses Fayose for governor

Ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti, about nine support groups have endorsed Otunba Emmanuel Fayose as the next governor of the state.

The endorsement was made by leaders and members of nine diverse groups including the influential youth group, student, artisan and market women.

In a statement by the secretary general of the coalition, Comrade Segun Ojo Oguntuase, in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.

He said they have conducted a thorough evaluation of Governor Bamidele Oyebanji administration, and they found him wanting in several aspects of leadership and service delivery in Ekiti State including maladministration and lacklustre performances.

According to him, in contrast, they highlighted Fayose’s remarkable achievements, including his philanthropic activities to less privileges across the entire state, so also his strides in private sector where he led different transformative projects and garnered international experience and recognitions.

The statement reads, “We stand firm in our endorsement of Otunba Fayose for the upcoming Ekiti 2026 gubernatorial election if he decides to throw his hat into the ring. We believe he is the right personality to steer Ekiti towards a prosperous future.”

The support groups, a coalition of independent bodies, activists and various groups praised Fayose’s commitment to youth development, community building, and transparency, aligning with the values of democratic leadership.

“Though Otunba Fayose has not shown interest in aspiring but we call on every patriotic Ekiti citizen to join our coalition in drafting Otunba Fayose to contest the incoming governorship election, in the overall best interest of the state.

“It’s time we vote in a true progressives democrat as our governor, a God-fearing individual, a man with a listening hear.

“With this endorsement, the support groups pledge their resources, networks, and energies to actualizing their dream of seeing Ekiti State in the hands of a man of integrity and foresight,” he added.
