Ekiti 2022: Ehinlawo predicts victory for party, says Oyebanji most experienced candidate

Published by

Ahead of the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti State, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Soji Ehinlawo, has given reasons why the APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, remains the best amongst the contenders and should be elected as the next governor of the state.

The ICT expert who described Oyebanji as an unassuming public servant argued that since he resigned as Secretary to the Ekiti State Government to seek the mandate of the people, “instincts and clear evidence based on available information have continued to sustain the view that Oyebanji is the man Ekiti needs at this particular time.”

Addressing newsmen at the weekend, Ehinlanwo said that based on Oyebanji’s character, vision and competence and other indices, he towers well above all the other candidates.

He said: “If our people are truly interested in achieving the kind of development strides comparable to those we see in advanced climes, we must begin to vote for those who have had rich work exposure and experience related to the office they seek. Based on this, Biodun Oyebanji is undoubtedly the best man for the job.

“Oyebanji has had an impressive record of public service spanning more than 11 years in an Ekiti State that is about 25 years old. In this period of service, he has garnered such deep insights about government business, needs and aspirations of Ekiti people.”

The party stalwart noted that Oyebanji also helped directly in the drive for the creation of Ekiti State – serving as Secretary to the Ekiti state Creation Committee, “even at a young age of 27 – providing him with the vision of the founding fathers of Ekiti State – which he is best positioned to deliver especially given the fact that he helped to produce the Ekiti state master plan.

He added, “In a nation where there is a huge distrust for politicians, it is imperative that we seriously begin to use the character scale to measure those who seek public office using their antecedents as yardsticks.

“At this time when the country is facing several social and economic challenges, Ekiti State needs a Governor with considerable empathy to implement government programmes for the benefit of the citizenry.

The former defunct Congress for Progressive Change( CPC) governorship candidate in Ondo state, urged the Ekiti people to allow a steady and strong hand with the right mix of competence, character, vision and unparalleled drive to steer the ship in a way that will propel the state to much greater heights.
