Ekiti 2018: MPN aspirant blames Ekiti poverty on ‘generational curse’

A former federal lawmaker, Senator Bode Olowoporoku, has expressed his intention to contest the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State, under the platform of the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN), and blamed the poverty he said was ravaging the state on “generational curse.”

Senator Olowoporoku addressed newsmen in Ado Ekiti on Monday, also said he was also coming out to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State by General Sani Abacha on October 1, 1996.

He said his decision to contest for the governorship next year would put an end to the “agony pervading Ekiti State, which is traceable to historical ingratitude.”

According to him, “the plan and objectives for the struggle to have Ekiti State had been bastardised. The heart of those of us who struggled for the creation of the state today are bleeding because Ekiti State would have been a land of happiness for all.”

The former Minister pointed out that his joining the race to the government house was to give hope to the “suffering civil servants, teachers, farmers, market women, artisans and small-scale commercial and industrial enterprises” in the state.

Olowoporoku, added that his mission is to “erase the generational curse on Ekiti children yet unborn is the issue. This is why he has decided to make attempt once more to redeem Ekiti by becoming the next Governor of Ekiti State come 2018.”

He called on Ekiti people to join hands, cooperate and vote him into become the Governor of Ekiti State, to erase the generational curse which Fabunmi Okemesi has spat on Ekiti lineage because of ingratitude.

Dr Olowoporoku, who use the forum to declare to Ekiti people that he would contest the election as the “Redeemer Governor”, to liberate Ekiti land from generational curses of ingratitude.

He, however pointed out that he is not in competition with Governor Ayodele Fayose, who is in charge of Ekiti money, but rather, it is a matter of determination for Ekiti people, to end their sufferings.

According to the governorship aspirant, Fasunmi Okemesi who led the liberation of Ekiti land from the cruel oppression of Ibadan and Oyo imperialism was rewarded with ingratitude which culminated in his being imprisoned at Ibadan by the colonialist instigated by Ekiti Obas and Leaders.

“Ekiti has since been cursed into paying all their benefactors with ingratitude hence Ekiti State today is in agony, this generational curse has been responsible for the backwardness of Ekiti land.”

Olowoporuku pointed out that those who led the struggle for the creation of Ekiti State especially himself have been plotted against since the state was created paving way to total invasion of the state by “strangers” to become the governors of the state.

Senator Bode Olowoporoku, a former Commissioner, Lecturer, Minister and a selected one of the 50 most exceptionally outstanding Alumni of the University of Ife, now OAU, during the golden Jubilee celebration of the existence of the university 1962 – 2012.

He condemned a situation whereby all industry and large commercial entities brought to Ekiti State have all collapsed such as Cocoa industry in Ipoti-Ekiti, Electric Globe Industry, Ikole-Ekiti, Textile Industry and Polythene Nylon Industry in Ado-Ekiti, among others.
