EKEDC announces 10-hour payment downtime for prepaid customers

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a scheduled downtime for payment services lasting 10 hours, from 2:00 PM to 11:59 PM (14:00 to 23:59) on Tuesday, April 22, for prepaid customers.

According to a statement endorsed by Babatunde Lasaki, the General Manager of Corporate Communications at EKEDC, this service downtime is necessary for a system maintenance upgrade aimed at improving efficiency and enhancing the overall customer experience.

During this 10-hour period, postpaid customers will still be able to pay their bills through the approved payment channels.

While the electricity supply will not be affected, EKEDC encourages prepaid customers to recharge their meters in advance to avoid any disruptions in service.

The company apologized for any inconvenience this disruption may cause and emphasised that the system upgrade is essential for delivering a more seamless and robust service.

He said: “This system maintenance is part of our efforts to improve our overall customer experience. On completion of the upgrade, our customers will have access to their payment and consumption history, a simplified payment process, and a user-friendly self-care portal for enquiries and resolutions. We will also introduce a new customer-friendly postpaid bill format.”

“Our customer service team will remain available to provide support during the downtime,” the statement read.
