Eid-El-Maulud: Emulate Prophet Muhammad, Bauchi gov urges Muslims

MUSLIM faithful in Bauchi State has been called upon to continue to follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in order to solve most of the societal problems as well as use the period of the celebration of the Maulud of the Prophet to pray for the progress of the State and the country at large.

In his Goodwill message, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on the Occasion of the 2019 Maulud celebration stated that “As you are all aware, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) has throughout his lifetime preached peace, honesty, love for one another and the fear of Allah (SWT). It is these virtues that people irrespective of their religious beliefs are enjoined to imbibe and put into practice.”

He added “Let me emphasise the importance of this occasion, towards portraying the exemplary behaviour of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). It is expected of us to emulate the noble characteristics of Prophet, who lived a peaceful life, preached peaceful co-existence among and between his followers and the adherents of other beliefs.”

“While we celebrate the event with meditation and merriment, we should also use the occasion for thoughtful stock-taking of our routine and spiritual performances in the last one year and pray to Almighty Allah for better and prosperous years ahead. I wish to use this opportunity to re-echo my call for mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among our citizenry, particularly as we find ourselves in an ethnically and religiously heterogeneous society,” he added.

Bala Mohammed said, “As you are aware, the primary objective of any responsible government is to ensure the security of lives and property of its citizens. The government will continue to do everything possible to ensure that we enjoy a peaceful Bauchi State, where no one is molested or harassed. We will not condone any act that is capable of causing disorder and confusion. Any person or group of persons found to be involved in such acts, under any guise will be dealt with according to the law.”

He also stated that “With your support and cooperation, the government will ensure the economic and social development of our dear state. You are all living witnesses to the level of development we have so far recorded in Education, Infrastructure, Health, Agriculture, Youths and Women Empowerment, Social Investments and a lot of others, in just some few months of our assumption in office. I want to assure the peace-loving people of Bauchi State that we will not relent in our effort to provide the needed developmental projects that will touch the lives of the entire people of the State.”

He then appealed that, “while celebrating this year’s Maulud, I appeal to you to observe the traffic regulations, in order to avoid accidents on our roads. Occasions like this are normally characterised by high traffic flow. I pray that the occasion will be observed hitch-free.”
