Eid-el-Kabir: FIBAN felicitates Muslims, calls for unity

Published by

Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) has felicitated Muslims faithful on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

According to a statement by FIBAN National Vice President 1, Dr Hellen Okon, the body also called for unity among all Nigerians irrespective of their religious beliefs.

“It is gratifying to witness another joyous moment in the Islamic lunar calendar which is the celebration of Eid-Kabir, the symbol of the climax of the fifth pillar of Islam, Hajj.

“The National President, Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Comrade Taiwo Adebayo-Gold, on behalf of his executive and the entire members of the association wishes to congratulate and identify with all Muslim ummars across the country as they celebrate this all important festival.

“There is no doubt that as a result of our troubled economy, this year’s celebration is challenged with high cost of food items which significantly hindered many families from, among others things, slaughtering of the sacrificial ram, the presumably high point of the festival.

“Despite this unfortunate development that has compelled Nigerians to celebrate under hard times, the President want Nigerians to look beyond the slaughtering of sacrificial ram and take it as an act of God. He appeals that we should be confident that this time shall pass and therefore dwell more on the significance of the celebration which includes obedience, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim to Allah.

“It is equally not by accident that this year’s celebration is the first, in the last ten years to fall into a Sunday, primarily considered as a day of worship for Christians as well as a day set aside to celebrate all father’s in the world. This further underscores the fact that though we may differ by our religious beliefs, there are many more things that unite us as a people and as a country. This unity cannot be over emphasized.

“As a foremost broadcast inclined body, under my watch, the association shall continue to play its fundamental constitutional responsibilities of being the watchdog of the society, with particular emphasis on the plight of Nigerians.

“While wishing you a memorable and fun filled Eid-ul-Adha, kindly celebrate in moderation,” the statement read.
