Eid el-Fitr: Tinubu donates 7,000 bags of rice to Zamfara APC

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has officially launched the distribution of 7,000 bags of rice donated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State.

Speaking during the formal handover of the food items to the Zamfara APC leadership on Friday, Dr Matawalle, who was represented by the Zamfara State APC Chairman, Hon Tukur Umar Danfulani, said the donation was a personal gesture from President Tinubu to appreciate the loyalty and resilience of APC members in the state.

He emphasised that the federal government under President Tinubu is intensifying efforts to restore lasting peace in Zamfara and other parts of the North West region, urging party supporters to continue praying for the return of peace and stability.

According to the minister, the donation is a demonstration of appreciation for the unwavering dedication and loyalty of APC stakeholders in Zamfara, noting that their commitment has helped keep the party strong despite being in opposition in the state. “Despite the fact that the party is not in control of Zamfara State, our members are looking good, better than the members of the ruling PDP in the state,” he said.

He explained that the 7,000 bags of rice will be distributed free of charge to party members across all levels — from the state executives to local government and ward levels — to enable them to celebrate the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festivities.

The event, held in Gusau, the state capital, was attended by several party leaders, including the APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau; Welfare Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Idris Ataka; Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon Junaidu Attahiru Dosara; Assistant Welfare Secretary, Hon Shehu J. Muhammad; Gusau Local Government APC Chairman, Hon Abubakar Tijjani Dan-Ayyah; Kaura Namoda APC Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Danmalikin Gabake; former Gusau Council Chairmen, Engr Babangida Abdullahi, Hon Sanusi Mohammed Sarki, and Hon Ibrahim Maaji Admin, among others.

The minister reaffirmed the commitment of the federal government to supporting grassroots party members and ensuring they are not left behind in developmental and humanitarian interventions.
