A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Davidson Akinlayo, and an Islamic scholar, Ustaz Musa Mohammad Raji, have extended their felicitations to Muslim faithful in Nigeria as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Hon. Akinlayo, who represents Ekiti North Federal Constituency 2 in the Green Chamber, emphasized the importance of remaining steadfast in the lessons learned during Ramadan. In his message of goodwill, he urged Muslims to uphold the tenets of Islam by exhibiting the fear of God and practicing piety in their daily lives.
“We must all continue in the good attributes imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan as directed by God through His Prophet, so as to ensure peace, unity, and harmony in society for a better future,” Akinlayo stated.
While praying for happiness, peace, and prosperity for Muslims, the lawmaker expressed gratitude for the support he has received from the Muslim community in Ido/Osi, Ilejemeje, and Moba local government areas of Ekiti State. He assured them of his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy through effective representation and the initiation of bills that will enhance socio-economic and infrastructural development in his constituency.
Akinlayo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged his constituents to remain unwavering in their commitment to the development of Ekiti State under Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He wished Muslims in the state and across the country a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Similarly, Ustaz Raji, speaking at the Night of Majesty held at the NASFAT Islamic Centre in Asese, Mowe, Ogun State, called on Muslims to abide by Islamic teachings to achieve peace of mind, attract blessings, and attain success from Allah.
The event, organized by NASFAT, brought together Muslim faithful from various parts of the country to pray for the nation and seek God’s forgiveness. Speaking on the topic “There’s No Help Except Allah,” Ustaz Raji quoted verses from the Holy Quran and the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad, emphasizing that all success comes from God.
He urged Muslims to remain steadfast in prayer and worship, warning against engaging in unholy acts that could attract divine punishment. He further highlighted the importance of forgiveness, kindness, and almsgiving, stressing that humanitarian service and support for the less privileged would be rewarded both in this life and the hereafter.
The President of NASFAT, Alhaji Ayodeji Abdul-Rauf Abdul-Wahid, in his welcome address, spoke on the significance of the Night of Majesty, describing it as a night “better than a thousand months” (Quran 97:3). He called on Nigerians to exercise patience with their leaders, pray for the country’s progress, and support local economic growth by reducing dependence on foreign goods.
Alhaji Abdul-Wahid also reiterated NASFAT’s solidarity with Muslim communities facing hardship globally, particularly in Palestine, Syria, Pakistan, and Ukraine. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s Muslim community’s commitment to advocating for the legitimate rights of Palestinians and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Abdul-Azeez Morufu Onike, led prayers for Nigeria’s leaders, asking God to grant them wisdom in governance. He also prayed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 73rd birthday.
