Eid el-Fitr prayers held in Borno without any security breach

EID el-Fitr prayers have been held in various towns and villages in Borno State without hitches or any cause for concern by residents.

Because of the existing curfew, most residents were seen early in the day trekking down to the nearest prayer ground because of the absence of vehicular movements to ferry them.

At the Ramat square, Imam Zannah Lesu who leads prayers in the palace of the Shehu of Borno and many other Ulama’s and Bulams were part of the thousands who throng the arena to thank God for completing the fast which is compulsory in Islam.

Imam Idaini Adam Alsanusia advised faithful to continue the good deeds which they practised during the Holy month adding that it must never stop with the end of the fast.

He Admonished Muslims to be serious about zakat at this crucial time when a lot of poor has fallen below the unacceptable levels of poverty due to the crisis of the insurgency.

Governor Kashim Shettima who also held his last Eid outing as Governor of Borno State was at the Ramat square in the intensely hot sun with the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai of the Kanemi dynasty.

Several members of his kitchen cabinet including Barrister Kaka Shehu, who manages the Environment and justice ministry and that of lands Mai Zugun Mele were all there with their Principal who remained mute till he left the prayer grounds.

Deputy Usman Drukwa also a Muslim was visibly absent as he was said to have gone to lesser Hajj and had to celebrate his Eid in Mecca.

The governor and his entourage drove straight to the government house Maiduguri after the two racat prayers amidst the mammoth crowd.

Thousands of Muslims worshipped at shuwari, Bolori, Dala suburb, 505 housing estate, police ground, University, Marmalari 212 Battalion parade ground, jajeri axis, Beneshiek, Jakana, Biu, Bama, GamboruNgala and Dikwa.

At the Marmalari cantonment, the General officer commanding GOC of the 7 division of the Nigerian Army Brigadier General Abdulmalik Biu joined soldiers, other Muslim faithful and their families to pray at the 212 Battalion parade ground.

Many families from Shagari low-cost A and B joined them at the prayer ground where prayers were said to their creator.
