The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) Godwin Sunday Audu has disclosed that there are efforts to adhere to guidelines of European Union (EU) exportation guidelines to avert product rejection.
This is just as the NAQS promoted over one hundred officers to Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine I (ASQ I).
In a statement issued by the Media Communications and Strategies, NAQS, Akanji Joshua said the Acting Comptroller General, Godwin Sunday Audu made the move after realising that it is long overdue.
The statement was made during the Maiden Meeting with Station and Zonal Coordinators held at the Headquarters in Abuja.
The Quarantine Boss who disclosed this at a Maiden Meeting with Station and Zonal Coordinators held at the Headquarters in Abuja, noted that henceforth, Human Capital Development will be a priority for the Service.
He called on the staff to rededicate themselves to the task of repositioning the agency to better serve the diverse stakeholders.
Audu stated that adherence to the Act establishing the agency and also conversant with International Standards will go a long way in promoting the ease of doing business.
He reminded the staff of his administration’s open door policy which will give room for innovative ideas stressing that the development will contribute to growing the agency.
The NAQS Acting CG said efforts are being made to adhere to the European Union (EU) requirements for exportation of products, stating that the development will no doubt avert imminent rejection of our products to EU Countries.
He announced the establishment of the Operations and Enforcement Department within the agency, which will oversee seamless operations, minimize unnecessary seizures, and enforce seizures judiciously.
