Rotimi Amaechi
Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has described as a total falsehood the insinuation that he owns one of the flats in Lagos where the sum of $43,449,947, £27,800 and N23, 218,000 was recovered on Wednesday.
The former governor made this known in a SMS sent to the Nigerian Tribune by his media aide, David Iyofor, to clear the air on his alleged involvement in the uncovered multi-billion naira scam.
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had discovered the huge sum while on sting operation at the Osborne Towers, a luxury residential complex in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Following the discovery, insinuations went viral in the social media that the luxury flats belonged to the immediate past governor of Rivers State, even as it was alleged that the money recovered was meant to prosecute the 2019 elections.
However, Amaechi, denied the entire allegation and absolved himself of any complicity as he said he had no business link with any of the flats or the money recovered therein.
“The allegation is false. Amaechi do not own any of the flats. Amaechi has no business link or connection with any of the flats or the money recovered”, Iyofor, the minister’s aide, wrote in the short message.
