EFCC grills FUNNAB VC, bursar for 7 hrs

THE Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Olusola Oyewole, alongside the university Bursar, Mr Moses Ilesanmi, was yesterday quizzed for over seven hours by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan zone, at their Iyaganku office.

Professor Oyewole, Mr Ilesanmi and other principal officers of the institution arrived No 16, Reverend Oyebode Crescent, Iyaganku, GRA, Ibadan, around 9:48a.m. in respect of an invitation by the zonal office of the agency signed by Akaninyewa Ezima.

The vice chancellor and the bursar, the Nigerian Tribune gathered, were grilled for more than five hours in respect of a petition written against the management of the university, the Pro Chancellor and some members of the Governing Council by “Concerned Stakeholders of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.”

The agency confirmed this in a post on its official facebook account with a report entitled “EFCC, Ibadan quizzes FUNAAB Vice Chancellor.”

When contacted, the Head, Public Affairs, Ibadan zonal office, Ayo Oyewole, confirmed the story but referred the Nigerian Tribune to the agency’s official facebook for update.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the investigation is likely to extend beyond Wednesday as it was gathered that the petition was “very bulky” and covered a period of time. The source also added that as a result of this, the prosecuting officers need to take their time to make some clarifications and verifications on some payments and expenditures referred to in the said petition by requesting for some Certified True Copies (CTC).

While Mr Oyewole, a Professor of Food Science and Technology, was appointed in 2012, Mr Ilesanmi was appointed in September 2011.
