EFCC determines to go after Ekpeyong, Oke – Magu

Published by

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has expressed the anti-graft body’s determination to go after the former Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and ex-Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke over corruption charges.

EFCC’s attempt to arrest Ekpeyong on Tuesday in Abuja was resisted by men of the DSS.

The Commission wants Ekpeyong in connection with its investigation into the $2.1billion arms fund involving former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rted) while Oke is wanted over the $43million recovered at  a flat in Lagos.

Magu spoke to State House corespondents after attending the inauguration by President Muhammadu Buhari of Audit Committee on the Recovery and Management of Stolen Assets Within and Outside Nigeria.

He said: “We are not discouraged at all. The law must take its course. Nobody is above the law.”

He added: “There must be reasons, strong reasons, before we go for arrest.”

When asked if he was discouraged by the action of the DSS, Magu responded: “Never! Never! I’m not discouraged but rather energised to do more. I am telling you, nobody is above the law.”
