Educators urged to adopt digital tools for innovative learning

Educators have been urged to adopt digital tools in impacting knowledge in their students, as this makes learning easier and fun-filled.

This advice was given during the 14th annual Indomie Teachers’s Seminar, which was held in Lagos recently.

The seminar, sponsored by Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles, was in celebration of Nigeria’s educators, and it was a strong commitment of the company towards uplifting and supporting educators as they shape future generations of children through education.

The event, which was held at the Nigeria Ports Authority Sport Event Hall, Eko Club Close, Surulere, Lagos, brought together over 500 teachers from across the country for a day of celebration, learning, and inspiration.

This year’s seminar, tagged “Reinventing the Classroom Through Digital Literacy,” was focused on equipping teachers with essential digital skills for today’s evolving educational terrain.

Explaining the theme, Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager at Dufil Prima Foods, stated that “classrooms today are evolving rapidly. We wanted this year’s seminar to encourage teachers to adopt digital tools and resources that make learning innovative and accessible. Teachers hold the future in their hands, and we aim to support their growth.”

Reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment, Ashiwaju stated that the brand had been doing this for 14 years.

“We have journeyed alongside our teachers, recognising their dedication and looking forward to an even greater celebration next year as we continue supporting and empowering educators.”

Key speakers at the event shared valuable insights on integrating technology into the classroom.

Obiora Ngwu, Senior IT Business Analyst and Project Manager, and Miriam Wokocha, digital technology consultant and motivational trainer, led an impactful session titled “Understanding the Role of Digital Literacy in Modern Education.”

They demonstrated how AI and digital tools can transform learning, equipping teachers with practical methods to increase student engagement and access to resources.

Mrs. Onatoye Buriamoh Kemi, Director of Education, Co-curricular, Science & Tech Department, Education District IV, Ministry of Education, who attended as a distinguished guest, urged teachers to embrace continual learning and innovation, noting, “With or without titles, teachers are special. Value yourselves, keep growing, and guide the next generation confidently through the digital age.”

Throughout the day, teachers expressed immense gratitude, sharing testimonials about the importance of their profession. One teacher remarked, “At some point, I was teary because this truly recognises the value of being a teacher.” Another shared, “It makes me feel priceless, and today, I am proud to say I am an educator.”

Mrs. Faith Joshua, Coordinator of the Indomie Fan Club, added a personal touch of motivation, recognising teachers as the foundation of all professions.

She encouraged them to carry on their great work with pride and determination, as Indomie remains dedicated to standing by their side.

The seminar featured engaging activities, including games, prizes, and awards for top performers in a nationwide quiz, honouring excellence among the educators.

Attendees enjoyed delicious noodles from Indomie as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication.

As they left, teachers took with them valuable insights, new connections, and a renewed commitment to their vital role in shaping the future.
