A Nigerian Educationist, Dr Kazeem Akande has developed an app that will serve as a platform to connect artisans and customers.
The application, “Ajewole Connect” was developed for middle-class and low-level artisans that need better visibility and more customers for their businesses.
Akande, while onboarding the application commented that the initiative was meant to boost the economy and as well find a drastic solution to improve the standard of living of middle and low-class families.
Adding that the initiative is also aimed at generating more income will assist parents in supporting their wards’ education.
Speaking on the usability and functions of the application, Akande noted that a lot of work has gone into the development of the app to ensure that users find it easy to get artisans on the platform.
The educationist further explained that the developers have dedicated the past year to gather data and integrate with location providers to ensure that all local governments, cities, and areas in Nigeria are covered to ensure that everyone has access and a wonderful experience using the platform.
When asked if there was a plan for traders and artisans who do not have access to mobile devices, he responded that “traders and artisans who are not tech savvy will benefit from the app as there will be agents to put them into the system.”
While discussing the various opportunities that will be explored with the application, Akande stated “that the app will provide a platform for trader groups to organize and develop cooperatives to gather money that will ease the payment of expensive tuition fees while he added that his principal aim is to ensure that everyone irrespective of their class has access to good education.
These groups will also have access to loan facilities from the application credit infrastructure.
“We have gone a step ahead in collaborating with secondary and tertiary education providers to seek support and allow parents to pay tuition fees in instalments through the application.
The flow of cash through the platform is also expected to inject funds and help grow the economy”, he concluded.
Also speaking to newsmen was the Head of Operations at Ajewole Connect, Yusuf Akande explained that the app has pre-vetted over a million artisans and will be able to serve several customers in different locations. while he added that the founder’s initiative is borne from his generosity and love for education, and Ajewole Connect will be a blessing to many families.
He however stated that the application will onboard mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and several vocations that households and businesses need in their day-to-day operations.
