Education Secretary tasks teachers on dedication to duty

The Obi Local Government Education Authority, Nasarawa State has charged teachers to be dedicated to duty for an improved standard of education.

This is by shunning truancy, absenteeism and other sharp practices and to be committed in their duties post.

Mr Mohammed Egye, the new Executive Secretary (ES) of the area, made the call on Monday in Obi while taking over from the acting ES, Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim.

He said that the advice has become imperative in order to ensure increased productivity among teachers in the area.

The ES said he would use his wealth of experience as an educationist in sanitising the education sector in the area.

Egye solicited the support and cooperation of the staff of the area to enable him to succeed.

He also called for support in the state government’s effort in promoting primary education in the area.

The ES added that anyone found in any negative act would face the consequence of his or her action in the interest of the sector.

“I want to advise teachers and staff to shun absenteeism, truancy, lateness to duties and others sharp practice capable of affecting their productivity, the standard of education in this area and the state at large.

Earlier, Ibrahim assured the new ES of his readiness to work hand in hand with him to succeed.

He urged the staff of the authority to extend the same support accorded him to the new ES for the development of the education sector in the area.
